Dr Darren L Dahly is the SDAU Principal Statistician. He has a PhD in Nutritional Epidemiology from the University of North Carolina. Prior to joining the UCC School of Public Health as a Senior Lecturer in Research Methods, he was a Lecturer in Statistical Epidemiology at the Centre for Epidemiology and Biostatistics at the University of Leeds. Dr Dahly now collaborates and consults on a large and varied portfolio of patient-focused and public health research projects in and around Cork. He is also interested in longitudinal and latent variable statistical modelling, compositional data, and conducts research on infant nutrition and growth. His homepage is here and he is also on Twitter @statsepi.
Dr Brendan A Palmer is an Associate Biostatistician at the SDAU and a Senior Postdoctoral Researcher with the School of Public Health at UCC. Dr Palmer has a MSc in Bioinformatics with Computational Biology, and a PhD in Virology. His background in primary research includes analysis of complex, intrahost virus populations using next-generation sequencing technologies, which has led to the development of his current interest in applying compositional data analysis practises to high throughput sequencing data. As a member of the HRB CRF-C, Dr Palmer is engaged in a number of research projects, advising on collection, transformation, analysis and reporting of data. He runs regular workshops for researchers looking to better document and manage their research through the R statistical programming language.
